Rooted in traditional forms of American music and dance—swing tunes and tap, hoedowns and clogging—the varied repertoire of Rhythm in Shoes, directed by choreographer Sharon Leahy and composer Rick Good, was on view widely from its inception in 1987 until the company disbanded in 2010. Based in Dayton, Ohio, the company toured in 48 states as well as in Canada, Japan and Ireland, pursuing the company’s mission: to engage the world in music and dance. They performed at the Pillow on two different shared programs: in 1992 with Fred Darsow Dance Company and in 1994 with Urban Bush Women.
