Taipei Crossover Dance Company was founded in 1994 by four veteran dancers and a prominent lighting designer from Cloud Gate Dance Company, renowned as the first contemporary dance company in any Chinese community. The goal in founding Taipei Crossover was to combine dance with other art forms such as literature, theater, music, and installation arts, while also extending the performing lives of its dancers. Among the founders was Lo Man-fei (1955-2006), who was the director of Taipei Crossover as well as Cloud Gate 2. She based The Dark Side of the Moon on the famous book of short stories known as Rashomon, telling the same murder case in four different ways.
