Teodoro Morca (1934-2015) was born to Hungarian immigrants in Los Angeles and began his Spanish dance training as a teenager with the Cansino family. He embarked on his first concert tour in 1955 and later spent several years in Spain as partner and guest artist of Pilar Lopez. He worked with many companies as either performer and choreographer, including José Greco, Teresa, First Chamber Dance Company, David Lichine, Lola Montes, Maria Alba, and Luis Rivera. The first of six Pillow engagements occurred in 1968 when he was the only artist to participate in all three program areas at that time: lecturing, performing, and teaching. The footage seen here was filmed on the stage of the Ted Shawn Theatre for a video compilation entitled The Joy of Bach.
