First performed in 1998 at New York’s Joyce Soho, From the Horse’s Mouth has since been presented in unique productions throughout the country with varying casts of dancers. These sections of the work alternate with stage crossings where the dancers perform in full costume, and each of these two components is briefly shown in this excerpt. While a previous incarnation of From the Horse’s Mouth was presented at the Pillow in 2001, the production seen here was devised specifically for the 80th Anniversary Season, commemorating Ted Shawn’s Men Dancers with a cast of exclusively male dancers including Arthur Mitchell, Lar Lubovitch, Gus Solomons jr, and many others.
