The oldest resident Native American dance company in New York, Thunderbird American Indian Dancers was founded in 1963 by descendants of the Mohawk, Hopi, Winnebago, and San Blas tribes. With a mission to keep alive the traditions, songs, and dances learned from their parents, the troupe has toured the U.S., expanding and sharing their repertory. One of the company’s founders, Louis Mofsie, is both seen and heard in this performance.
