Bursting onto the national dance scene as a summer touring company in 2005, the Trey McIntyre Project’s Pillow debut that year led to a return engagement the very next season. In 2008, the company created its home base in Boise, Idaho, and made its official debut as a full-time year-round performing ensemble at the Pillow. McIntyre was born in Kansas and trained at the North Carolina School of the Arts before joining the Houston Ballet. In 1989, he became the company’s first Choreographic Apprentice, and that early start has led to a canon of more than eighty works for companies such as the Stuttgart Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and the New York City Ballet. He later premiered LADIES AND GENTLE MEN at the Pillow in 2012, and permanently disbanded the company after presenting Mercury Half-Life in 2014.
