In this excerpt from the opening of Twyla Tharp’s The One Hundreds, Norton Owen serves as the “celebrity guest” as Tharp explains one of the phrases from her work comprising one hundred distinct, eleven-second movement phrases. Owen was drafted at the last minute to fill in for Chuck Davis, who was originally scheduled to assist Tharp at this performance. A brief portion of this footage was repurposed in 2025 as part of a film celebrating Owen’s 50th season at Jacob’s Pillow, where he continues as the longtime Director of Preservation.
