A competitive gymnast and clarinetist before moving to New York in 1986 to study dance at The Juilliard School, Wally Cardona soon fell under the tutelage of Benjamin Harkarvy, who invited him to take part in the 1987 Jacob’s Pillow Ballet Project. It was here that he met Ralph Lemon, with whose company he would continue to dance for eight years. Since founding his own company in 1997, Cardona has worked throughout the world and has created projects ranging widely in scale, setting, and materials. He is currently on the faculties of both The Juilliard School and The New School, and his teaching interests lie in helping individuals cultivate their own creative process. Morph: Live Remix was commissioned by the Pillow, where audiences were encouraged to view it from multiple vantage points and invited to “walk, sit, or stand anywhere in the space.”
