Stemming from the Pillow’s world premiere engagement of Restless Creature in 2013, this duet again pairs Wendy Whelan with one of the previous project’s four dancer-choreographers, Brian Brooks, while adding live music by Brooklyn Rider into the mix. Like the earlier collaboration, this full-evening work was conceived to showcase the artistry of former New York City Ballet principal Wendy Whelan, who had first appeared at the Pillow thirty years earlier. Those initial appearances in 1986 and 1987 were with the New York City Ballet Choreography Project, and she returned to perform William Forsythe’s Herman Schmerman with Peter Boal in 2004. Brian Brooks directs his own New York-based company which made its initial Pillow appearance on the Inside/Out series in 2003 and debuted in the Doris Duke Theatre with Motor a decade later.
