Ephrat Asherie Dance (EAD) is an urban dance theater company dedicated to a new movement language combining the rawness of underground styles with a contemporary aesthetic. Drawing from breaking, house, hip-hop, and vogue, EAD explores narrative aspects of these social and club traditions, placing them in a concert dance context. After having debuted in 2013 on the Inside/Out series, EAD returned the following season to present Step 4.2 in an exclusive production known as Unreal Hip-Hop, teamed with The Wondertwins and Decadancetheatre. EAD presented the world premiere of Odeon at the Pillow, and the work seen here resulted from a collaboration with the Grammy Award-winning pianist/composer, Arturo O’Farrill.
