Jo Stromgren was born in Norway, where he continues to headquarter his theater company specializing in nonsensical languages, live music, film, and puppetry. He studied classical ballet and performed as a dancer before an injury pointed him more towards a multi-disciplinary creative career. He continues to freelance as a choreographer, creating works for major European ballet companies as well as contemporary groups such Cloud Gate and Cedar Lake (who performed Stromgren’s Necessity, Again at the Pillow). Stromgren describes There as “a deliberate misunderstanding of Eastern Europe, seen through the eyes of four dissidents stuck in the zone between East and West.”
