A 1949 memoir by Maria von Trapp inspired a German film which in turn spawned the 1959 Broadway musical The Sound of Music and its 1965 film version. This beloved film musical was affectionately adapted for the dance stage by Doug Elkins, who himself appears as the Mother Superior.
