Founded by Jiří Kylián in 1991as a counterpart to the main Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) and the youth-focused NDT2, Nederlands Dans Theater 3 was dedicated to showcasing dancers over the age of 42. Among the founding participants in this venture were Kylián’s partner and muse, Sabine Kupferberg, and NDT veteran Gérard Lemaître, who had first danced at Jacob’s Pillow as part of NDT’s U.S. debut in 1965. Evergreens was created especially for these two unique individuals, and it is shown here in its U.S. premiere.
