The site-specific work excerpted here, collaboratively created by Michelle Dorrance, Josette Wiggan-Freund, and Nicholas Van Young, premiered at the Pillow as part of a multi-venue celebration entitled “Dorrance Dance Plays the Pillow,” an engagement that also included Untitled Waveforms. This section, entitled “Josette’s House,” was performed in and around Fred’s Cabin, a historic Pillow structure built in the 1930s by Fred Hearn, one of Ted Shawn’s Men Dancers. Among Dorrance Dance’s other Pillow-commissioned works are All Good Things Comes to an End, both ETM: Double Down and ETM: The Initial Approach, and The Blues Project, a full-evening work in collaboration with Toshi Reagon which had a return engagement in 2015.
